Mechanical seal, weep holes leaking coolant

Hey, I have a 2001 kawasaki vulcan 750 and she's leaking coolant out of the weep holes. From what I have read it's the mechanical seal. I'm having trouble finding the part number for the impeller o ring and lock nut. Can I just get a generic o ring and lock nut? If so what sizes?

i would, if it's cheap and available and works. Worst thing that can happen is you'll end up where you started. I used common plumbing o-rings on my last oil-change, but that's oil. Was in the same situation though. . . had to have SOMEthing at least for "now".

( insert common every day disclaimer here. To be clear: i am NOT an expert. )

Have you gone to the websites for Bike Bandit or one of the many other OEM parts dealers. Those sites are pretty good for getting the proper part number. Try a few of them. Also seeing this is your one and only post how about doing an introduction under the Newbie Check-In heading and tell us a bit about your riding/wrenching experience and where you are from.

and always remember, "Ride until you rot!"
**Really not sure if the Big "C" is back right now
but having to face the fact that this is a lifetime routine
going forward. Five operations done and it still continues.

You have to do a fair amount of work to replace that seal. Definitely not worth being cheap given the minimal savings.

Nothing too complex though. Lookin at 60 in parts, than new oil/filter and coolant. Around 60 more.
