Coming out of hibernation

Hi everyone, with the warm weather we have been having in ohio I have been getting eager to ride again! Can't wait!

Quick question, and maybe I am just installing it wrong (not sure how) but I have gone through 3 oil filters. The last 3 I have had went when starting the bike. They just decided to start spitting oil. I will admit, they seem a bit loose when I go to tighten it, but even then with the seal not broken it spits oil from somewhere around the seal projecting about 3 feet. Is this a common issue? I can't find anything on the threads. I have tried 3 different filters and they all fit. One was even the kawasaki suggested one.

Any feedback is helpful. Thanks and look forward to this season!

Well now I'm hungry, and want to ride! Thanks, I'll check it out this weekend. Would be really happy if that's the issue!

I just don't get why the filters will keep spewing oil even after I tighten it back up. I know the seals havnt broke on the filters.

I'll look for the seal stuck to the block. Thanks again!

Make sure there's no scratches on the mating surface of the motor.
Rub the rubber seal of the filter with oil before putting it on, and although they say to make the filter only "hand tight" ...but I always give it an extra twist using a filter wrench.

It's possible that the threads on the motor are damaged, and not allowing the filter to tighten properly.

Try and determine exactly where the oil is shooting out from....

I took off the filter and don't see anything wrong with the block. There are the 3 bolts, and the one empty hole under where the oil filter screws in. No blemishes or scratches so on. Is the hole suppose to be there? I thought last time I looked it up it was suppose to (pictures below).

Attached are some photos of the filter (I know its not the kaWasabi one, but like i said i ttied that one even and it did the sa me thing). I guess the seal did come out of place, but after going through 3 of them within a year I feel like something is up. I tried the filter wrench with this one.

Is it possible that it is vibrating loose then taking the seal out with it?

Thanks again guys!
