VN750 Ticking

So I changed my oil Friday to Rotella 15w40, Now I have this ticking noise in the top end of the engine, it's pretty dominant when it's idling. I thought maybe the ACCT's where going on. I changed both of these to MCCT, that doesn't appear to be the issue. Only makes this noise when idling. I'm really starting to believe it has something to do with this oil. I had 10w40 castrol in it before. I'm thinking of going to a 10w40 Valvoline motorcycle oil now after this issue. Anything think of any other reason it would be making this noise? I uploaded a video to youtube of the noise.

Take a listen see what you think. It's defiantly not the ACCT's or "MCCT's" now. It started doing this after I changed to 15w40 Rotella, but I heard the oil was good for the vulcan's so I decided to use it.

I'd suggest going back to the Castrol you were using before and see if it makes a difference. I've used Rotella for decades and had no problems, but have seen folks that were using Castrol and then switching to Rotella report noise or shifting issues.

These bikes do make a bit of racket, hard to say what's going on with yours.

Do you think it could be the petcock making this noise? I've read some users have a ticking noise from the vacuum petcock.

it could be making the noise, but an oil change wouldnt have caused it to show up (unless the Rotella is making some other noisy part of the engine quieter)

yeah true, I think I noticed it Sunday, so maybe it showed up then. I just think since I changed the oil Friday I kinda want to blame the oil? I could be wrong. It seems odd this noise... I just want some more educated opinions. I really don't like this noise =(

Do you think this noise is something abnormal? What steps should I take to see if I can isolate the issue?

The ticking sounds like the petcock to me. Put your ear to the tank you'll know instantly. It's loud as heck in there.

Been using rotella for the life of the bike, never an issue with noise when I switched to it.

It doesn't sound terrible. Sort of thought I heard some MCCT on the left side, but the right side sounds pretty much like normal chain and valvetrain sounds.

Running Rotella 15w40 in mine and not seeing any problems. Mine pretty much sounds like that in my videos, and I consider it fairly quiet. You can pinpoint where all those sounds are coming from with a mechs stethoscope (timing chain rollers/guides, rocker arms, etc.

If you suspect any part like the petcock or MCCT, touch it and see if you feel the tick.

No metal shavings in the oil screen when you changed oil?
