Starter

Fought with bike off and on for two hours still can't get starter to go in.any other suggestions?ive turned the starter splines little bit at a time it just doesn't want to go back in.it came out its gotta go back in.its holding me up.

if you put the starter splines next to the splines inside the bike and turn the whole starter in very small increments and pushing in after moving it a little you will eventually get it to pop in. Don't hand move the shaft leave it alone. Just move the whole starter in the same direction in small increments and it will pop in. You shouldn't have to move it more than 1/4 inch but in smaller increments up to that ".

Thanks,the problem I'm having now is that it will go in but the bolt holes are on the opposite side and the bolt where the hot wire goes is against the oil pan.like arse backwards .is there aliment marks or anything on starter maybe I didn't put starter together right

unless you have a different starter than mine, the starter or hot wire should be the opposite of the mounting holes. Just pull the rear end of the starter away ever so slightly and turn the entire starter so the hot wire post is toward the tire and the mounting bolts are aligned up with the mounting holes.

Did you rebuild your starter?

Yes I did rebuild the starter.i can't turn the starter because it hits an engine case bolt.its driving me nuts everybody else has no problem getting starter to go back in.
