1986 Vulcan Cutting out at base idle.

This bike has been running great....but recently just when at a stop light at idle it would fall below idle and just shut off.....starts right back up again but i don't know what the problem is??? Happens when it is both cold and warm. I have to keep revin it and it usualy just cuts out one its been sitting at idle for like 30 sec. I was curious on if there is a problem or what to tighten and where?

Re: 1986 Vulcan Cutting out at base idle.

You might try adjusting the idle speed, but it may have other carb problems also. The black plastic knob on the left side of the bike near the petcock adjusts the idle speed. If your problems continue after that, you may be looking at carburetor work.
