HLA's basics

OK have engine apart and was watching video about bleeding the HLAs. Some will compress a small amount but others will not move. Should they move if they are full of oil? should the oil bleed down? Are they stuck? Will soaking stuck ones in kerosene clean them or should I use something stronger? Any feed back on what I should expect and what I should do?

Figured it out. When the HLAs are full of oil the can not be compressed. The tool I was using was not going in far enough to press down on the relief ball. once I got that pressed down the oil bled out of it and I was able to compress the top. I then pumped it in a cup of oil till it was hard again and no bubbles.
