Any ideas what I found?

I finally managed to get the stubborn stripped oil cap the PO left for me to deal with (for screen assembly) removed while I have the engine out to change dampeners. Once I got the cap off inside there was no screen so that is on order. My question, I found a peice of something that feels almost like JB weld sitting in the bottom of the channel to the left that appears to be where the oil enters to pass through the screen any ideas what this is? It is perfectly formed on the bottom to fit in the hole at the bottom of the channel but looks as if it was sheared.

This photo shows the channel I am talking about just inside the hole on the left. The piece was sitting in the bottom.

Could be some type of sealer that collected there? I've found wads of silicone in oil pumps before.

Did you have to break it loose, or did it come off when the cap was removed? Wondering if someone tried to seal the cap in place when they tossed the screen. (thinking I read the screen was missing)

It basically just slid up and out. Theres a little pocket at the bottom of that channel sort of like the hole was machined a little further down. This little peice was basically sitting in it. The cap was very mangled and has been stuck on there for years since I bought her. The screen and all components were just not there. I had to basically destroy the cap to get it out so maybe it is just something silly the last owner did. I just was hopeful its not a part of the internals but it appears as though it was put there. I doubt it flowed down that opening. As far as I could tell there was no sealant used on the cap it was just torqued down way to hard.

Assembly line sabotage? Wouldn't be the first time, some weird things have been found.

Rubber cork from science class....someone tried to use it to replace the oil plug....kidding....if no other fragments came out, I wouldnt worry too much...in case, you can remove the secondary drain from the case bottom and flush some out thru....if no more black comes out, go ride....
At first, I thought balance damper, but then no...it almost looks like the anti vibration grommets on the engine bolts, lol...

Does look like it had some tooth bites in it though....
