rebuild trouble shooting

So I did a 100% rebuild and, against me better judgement, also did an ear shave. The reason I say that is because I introduced an additional variable to my tuning.

Question: I originally assumed my studdering while riding was due to air fuel ratio and carb adjustment . Idle is fine and very pleased but while test riding is not 100% or even 50%, I've adjusted a fair amount and the ride is still sluggish and shakey. It starts great (even in 40 degrees) and it'll drive but its NOT RIGHT. Any ideas? Is it possible I f'ed up the timing. I followed the.procedure to a T.

Suggestions? I've come so far

About what speed and rpm does it lay down? Describe it a bit more.

For starters, where is the carb vent line?

Have you read the plugs at all?

Did you rejet the carbs, and if so, to what? What filters are you using? Do you have an aftermarket exhaust or modified stock exhaust? If you increase the airflow too much, it will be beyond the tuneable range of the carburetors, but you generally have to run open pipes to get that far off.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.

Wow, I can't believe I read that on this site. Jerry, reality can be a hard sell here. I personally do not care enough, but I am right behind you on this.

I rejetted it to the jets listed on the toutorial on this site. I'm running the K&N cone filters. Stock exhaust with a leak somewhere in the goats belly (get to that after i fix this haha)
Jets
1 Keihin (Sudco) Needle Shims Item# 009-396 $7.95
2 Keihin PN: 99101-393 Main Jet Size: 142 $13.90
2 Keihin PN: N424-22 Pilot/Slow Jet Size: 42 $13.90
Total $35.75

I haven't read the plugs yet cuz its been freezing and i haven't been on this a whole lot.

Sluggished at all RPMs, guess i'd say it rev's slowly too with the clutch in. will rev up but its not as fast as it did before the rebuild nor what i'd expect.

Hmm carb vent line? I dont know off the top of my head, i'll check that tomorrow.

If you did all of that with stock exhaust, you are probably way too rich. When you open the throttle does it hesitate or shortly thereafter?
