engine oil, is rotella a good one

I am doing a November oil change and I have read forums where some members recommend Rotella favourably, it seems that this oil is for heavy duty machinery and diesel engines, is this oil ok for a wet clutch ?

*sigh* yet another oil thread lol.

Yes it is fine for use in our bikes and I've never had an issue running it in all of my bikes over the years. There have been lots of discussions about this very topic.

Lol I'm not trying to sound like a douche, just think we don't need another oil thread. I give rotella my seal of approval.

You might want to search that in the search bar up by the red Vn750 top page. This has been discussed hundreds of times. Opening up a can of worms my friend. But in short, IMO yes, not only has it had mostly good reviews here, but almost all motorcycle forums.

Oil threads are part of motorcycle and car forums. Rotella is good oil. But so are about a million others. Any car or diesel oil is fine, just don't go below 10w40, that's when you get into that "energy conserving" epa crap. I use Castrol GTX 20w50, and I have 85,000 miles on the bike. I live in AZ where it is super hot. If you live in a cooler climate, 10w40 or 15w40 is fine.

I don't use synthetic, or any motorcycle specific oil. It's ok, but insanely expensive. I like clean oil in my engine, I change it at least every 3000 miles, sometimes sooner. Hard to do that if the oil costs $50.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.

Wink

With Rotella, use only 15w40, the 10w-x has friction modifiers that can slip your clutch, according to Bob The Oil Guy.

Yes, fine for our wet clutch and gearbox.

I do not hesitate to purchase/use Rotella.

Aww, I wanted to put in my 2 cents worth. Lol
I also condone the rotella. I've been using it for roughly
The last 40,000 miles. It's hard to beat its price.
