Impeller disassembly

https://www.vn750.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=555

I just pulled apart the impeller and its constituent pieces - pretty ugly in there! But for anyone (Wheeler? ) who's gotta deal with a busted mechanical seal sooner or later, here's a link to my pics from my disassembly so you can see what you might be looking at. The engine in this case is off the frame, but you can replace this stuff just by removing the right sub-frame.

Right you are. Do you think there was any specific problem or are you going to replace seals and all, impeller included?

Is that Orleans?

I'm replacing the whole thing - I'm not really sure how something like that gets corroded, given where it's located, but Orleans' PO didn't take very good care of her. So I'll start fresh. If your impeller looks okay, however, I think you can just replace the seal and the o-ring.

Ewwwwwwwwwww.....

what a mess!!!

I hope you continue to take good pictures as all this plays out.

When you're thru putting it all back together finally, you can use your documentation to get a new job, if you like.

I think Kawasaki should then hire you as one of their stateside district managers!!!!............

He he - I've always said I need a fallback plan when anthropology goes bad. This beats raising sheep.

No, that would be archaeology (a sub-branch), where they study dead people. I get to talk to the live ones.

I thought it was funny! And, come to think of it, since I do a lot of evaluations of Federal projects, I often do study things that have gone bad!!
