mag pickup wires

I am putting my bike back together after installing a stator. I noticed the wires that run under the bevel gear for ignition timing had a spot that the heat shrink had burned through. If it continued it may have grounded out causing the bike to stop or run on one cylinder. BTW installing a new stator is a giant PITA and I hope I never have to do it again!! Mike '89 vn 750

I've had good luck with a product called "Liquid Electrcal Tape". It dries harder then RTV and hasn't peeled like RTV tends to.
