ACCT Woes: I think Orleans is a cousin to Tirrell's bike...

One discovery after another. THought I had stripped threads on the right ACCT on Orleans after I couldn't cinch down the end bolt. Free Wheel-ie was kind enough to send me a replacement, on which I loaded the spring last night. Looked at the Olreans' ACCT (left in pic) and Free Wheel-ie's ACCT (right in pic) and thought, "Hmmm...Orleans' has the new TOC spring in it; too bad I apparently stripped the threads." Looked more closely at the bolts, and realized that the old ACCT bolt had been jury-rigged - "Hey, it's a little long, but a washer in there oughta do it." What the--?? The previous owner did the same thing with the throttle cables - just added washers as the cables stretched.

Lesson learned: sometimes the problem isn't all that complicated.

glad you got it fixed. those end cap bolts are really really easy to strip if your not careful. I stripped one completely that had been semi stripped by last owner. But its also easy to re-thread. I found stove bolts that matched perfectly to the acct at local hardware store. Fixed it all up ,then got the mcct's.
