Fishtail pipes: would it hurt at all if I cut the fins off..?

I don't like the look of these pipes and I was told by a couple bikers that nobody is really interested in these kind of pipes nowadays. So I was wondering if, instead of replacing them altogether, I could just cut the ends off and make them straight pipes? I looked through the end of the pipes and their are no guts at the ends - just the outer pipe. Would this be a feasible solution to getting rid of the fins? Btw, these are Jardine pipes - I was told they were very expensive. But I doubt I could find any takers for them.
