Oil Light came on !

..........had my bike running yesterday, tweaking the carbs. With a weak Stator I do not ride over a mile before returning. While riding, the Oil light came on ! WTF ! Added 1/2 qt of Oil....no change.
? ? ?
I have not performed an Oil change ....shouldn't need to burp Oil filter or should I ?

It does have oil which drips occasionally from the bottom of radiator area. What is that ?

Used "Search" , for threads, but had no luck.

I would go for a burp first a foremost. You could have a clogged filter causing an air bubble as well?

I'm not sure about your leak, maybe it's just a small leak around the filter gasket.

I would definitely check out the sending unit. Clean it up and check wiring to it first.

since the sending unit in the grounding switch (if I recall) for the light, you can always pull the wire off it, and the light should go out (wont matter if engine is running or not). if it stays light, then you have a pinched wire or other short in the wiring

bil it could be the oil sender not tight enough or the spark plug tube o ring

and that stator is not weak i only put 70 miles on it and we tested it when we started the bike it is putting out over 13 volts at 4k and 12.4 at 1k if those numbers have changed then i would be checking your solder job on the stator wires

and since you decided against replacing your balancer shaft even though the tip was all beat up that is the reason for your vibrations

i also informed you to change the oil after about 100 miles so you could get all the assembly lube out along with any of the silicone that may have broken free from the inside of the gaskets

and why are you still tweeking the carbs i had them right when you left here

I'll check the oil sender not tight enough, as well clean that electrical connection.

spark plug canister O rings do leak a little, have not done anything with them yet. They have pretty much quit leaking.

I will check/Ohm out the Stator solder connections with Meter.

I have only put 100 miles or so on the bike total...maybe 120. No longer trust the Stator output/battery strength away from home. New MF AGM Battery Nov 2012.

Oil change coming this week.

Vibrations ? I have not experienced any vibrations in my bike.

Tweaked the carbs....reduced popcorn exhaust farts.

Those Coaster Enricheners = Carb Air Cut Off Valves ...I need to replace...occasional popping @ carb intake @ idle (also visible at clear vacuum hose on Front carb/petcock vacuum) - when cold.

That's way to low to keep the battery charged. Takes 13.5 to maintain a 12 volt battery without the head light and markers drawing volts.

Also, don't start the engine if there is a question of the oil supply. Pull the sending unit out, pull the spark plugs to take the compression off the pistons so the starter spins the engine freely, see if you get oil out of the sending unit hole. If not, Lord be with you. Dry bearings on a running engine go in a hurry.
