Oil change

Well I'm about to change my oil just wondering what oil and weight every one suggest runs better in the vulcan. I know someone has probably asked this before but I couldn't find it sorry. I'd appreciate the input

Seriously dude, READ THE VERSES! Most of your answers can be found their.

Oil is about as personal as a condom is to a guy. To each their own. Popular consensus suggests Rotella T 15w-40. It's heavy duty diesel oil, cheap, and can be had by the gallon which fits perfectly into the bike w/o measuring. The VERSES will also reference several store brand oil filters you can choose from that will fit our bike.

I can't stress enough on how important it is to read through the VERSES and use the SEARCH function to help you find your answers.

I only understand what I don't understand.

Rotella T is the way to go oil-wise I'd say. I go lazy and use K&N filters for the bolt they have for removal. The verses has a whole list of filters that you can use.

• stock Kaw (big $$$) – part # 16097-1066 FILTER-ASSY-OIL 2003
• an auto parts store can cross reference another one for you
• Purolator Pure One Filter (PL14610) ~ "the best you can buy" ~ it's blue, so you might want to use black spray paint, several coats all at once, then let dry before mounting (Sherwin Williams part # 140-0514, Wrought Iron Black)
• Mobil 1 M 1-110, Champion
• Bosch 3323, Champion
• Wix (black), part # 51358
• K & N 202 (larger than most; also has a “nut” at the end for easier removal)
• Fram PH 6010a & 6017a (both are black; the first is a bit larger)

Fram = NOT !

I personally use tusk oil filters and a good quality 20W-50 for summer time oil. 10w-40 for winter

its all about preference really

The majority agree on Rotella T, so not much of an oil thread...

That being said, the most important thing is that the engine has oil. Use whatever floats your boat as long as it's OK to use with a wet clutch.

The K&N I used is the 303, instead of 202 posted earlier. The chrome one is 303-c.

Running Rotella 15w40 in mine, I use straight 30w Rotella in some other equipment engines, it's good stuff.
