Well, 45,000 km = about 28,000 mi. which isn't all that much, depending on the year of the bike.
What year is it and do you know anything about how the previous owner rode it?
Mine '99 has about 35,000 and with normal maintenance seems to be running fine.

A lot depends on how well the bike was taken care of and whether or not it got dropped or went down hard.

If the bike has been cared for, no reason you could'nt get to 90,000Km with normal maintainance and a little tender loving care, if you run it over 6000 rpm's all the time it will wear out a lot sooner.

Make sure oil level is up where it should be looking at the sight glass onthe left side of the engine. If it doesnt smoke when it runs that is a good sign.If the bike runs well you should be good to go...............

so dont drive the speed limit.....
even i think the bike would be just fine.... just make sure you give it a good look over... check for signs of excessive rust (indicates storage outside) and any unsual scratches indicating its been laid down.... i'd rather get a '96 with 46k miles then one with 4.6k miles......

Hizzo, I have a '96. Bought it with 2500 miles on it 2 months ago......

After some TLC it is running great, I agree you need to put some effort onto it after sitting that long, but the price is right for a practically new bike.

Well, if it's an '88, with that low of miles, and runs great, sounds like a good deal.
Did you just hear it run, or were you able to take it for a ride?

My 93 has done 79600 miles now & still runs great. I always change the oil & filter regularly & go easy on the throttle until the engine is warm.
