Valve noise from my '04

Hi everybody,

I have an '04 570 with 22k miles that runs great. When I bought it this last summer, there was a lot of noise coming from the valve train. I rewound both ACCT's per Gypsy's instructions which fixed that problem. However, I have a tinny sounding tapping between 2 and 3k rpm coming from the top of the rear cylinder. Any ideas??? Is there anyway to adjust the valves or do I need a rebuild? Has anybody done this at home?? Thanks for your help!

The Valves are hydraulic, so shouldn't need any adjusting.
It is possible you need to replace the ACCT springs. This can be a little tricky, but it can be done by yourself.
Have you had the oil changed recently? Fresh oil might help if you haven't.
Also, are you sure it might not be something else vibrating that is making the sounds you hear? Loose exhaust heat shields can cause a tinny sounding noise.

Oh yeah, Gypsy's site is available HERE, minus alot of pics and possibly some more recent updates

The Hydraulic Lash Adjusters Do Get Air In Them,(car Ones Auto Bleed The Vn's Ones Do Not) Which Can Cause This Type Of Noise, The Manual Shows How To Bleed Them, But You Don't Need The Special Tool They Show You Can Do The Same With A Darning Needle Stuck In A Cork. Or How Kawasaki now Sugests, Which Is To Stick 'slick 50' In Your Engine And Once The Engine Is Warm Hold It At 3000rpm For Three Minuts (it Works Fine).
It Could Also Be That If You Manualy Adjust Your Cam Chains They May Have Been A Bit Tight And The Cam Jurnals Have Worn Causing Them To Tap Up And Down As The Valves Are Pushed(i Hope Its Not This)
