Re-goated..

Since I take several long trips on my bike the louder exhaust was really starting to get to me.
I didn't want to give up my fishtail mufflers but when it comes down to those or my hearing.. well the fishtails are laying on the garage floor.
I had the goat's belly still but didn't want to put the stock mufflers back on. I also like a symetric bike and wanted both coming out the same distance and pretty much towards the end of my hard saddlebags.
I opted for the Harley Dyna mufflers and am real happy with the results. A healthy tone but not over-powering and no more popping since I have a solid connection. (Found out I had also blown out the flex pipe on the right side which sure didn't help toning down the fishtails!). So now I have equalized mufflers and my back pressure is back
So.. add me to the list of happy re-goaters. And of course I have a maintenance free battery and have relocated my R/R

I have to wear earplugs at work all day so it doesn't bother me to wear them when I ride. But just picked up some baffle packing today and will see if I can get the cruzers a little bit quieter for the neighbors sake.

Welcome back to the quiet(er) club, Goddess! You will find it MUCH easier
on long trips. I went back to stock from Cruzers, you know, and I really
like the sound. "Healthy" is a good way to put it.

BTW, this doesn't have anything to do with us being old, does it? <g>

Never degoated, but I just got through drilling the holes in the baffles. Man, it was worth destroying my old electric drill and bit - I caught a hole just right and bent the drill and the bit. My wife says it sounds like a Harley. I dunno 'bout that, but it sounds terrific! No tinny sound, just pure machine. I drilled 8 - 3/8" holes in each muffler. Now, will the exhaust cover the exposed steel and stop it from rusting, or do I need to hit it with some high heat paint?
