Front Bevel Cap Leak

Hi Everybody, First Post!

A week ago I purchased an 86 Model with 18000Kms (11000ish miles) I have only had one decent ride of about 2 hours. The next day I noticed I have a small oil leak from around the bevel gear case cap which i would assume is a broken down seal. I have looked at the exploded view and i am unsure which seal it could be and how difficult it would be to replace.

If anyone could explain the process it would be much appreciated. I do have a service manual but there was not much information about the cap side.

TIA.

I would take a look at Roach's engine videos. I do believe he does cover this. As for the gasket Cheapcycleparts.com or bikebandit.com...ect have exploded veiws that then have the part # shown or just use RTV black gasket maker.

I believe it is the big rubber seal that holds the metal cap in place. It is a fairly common problem, and not difficult to fix. PLEASE DO A SPLINE LUBE BEFORE RIDING THE BIKE ANYMORE.
