Goop

anyone have any experience with it. I have a craftsman weedeater with a plastic gas tank, it cracked. its only 15 bucks for a new one plus another 15 shipping. it cracked where it bolts on to the weedeater in both locations and was leaking gas everywhere and would not run cause it was sucking too much air. I bought some "Goop" and coated it and now its working like a champ and not leaking.
so now I'm wondering, when I changed my sight glass cover gasket I apparently didnt do a good enough job cause I have a pretty good oil leak now, about a quart every couple weeks but it makes a mess out of my bike, I hate to tear it back down right now cause no garage and money but am wondering if I coat the outside of the cover all the way around if this my stop or significantly slow my leak. it dries clear so not to worried about seeing it on there and it wouldnt be that noticeable down there, possibly the stator cover too. any thoughts or experience with it anyone?

The only "goop" I am aware of is the hand cleaner and the waterproof sealant. If you mean the latter, it is not gasoline freindly.

You have link to the product you are talking about?

Yep, same stuff I used to glue the rubber on all my floorboards. It is not solvent proof however, so if gasoline gets on it , it may start to deterioate.

I know laquer thinnner will soften it...but never spilled gas on it..so no real clue if it would be an issue.
