Thermastat

Does anyone have a cross reference part number of the 750 thermostat to that of a car thermostat. Cheapest I found yet was $25 online. Dealer asked me $49 for one.

I thought someone had posted about using one from a Toyoya or Nissan, but can't find it right now. I'll try again when I get home

Thanks KM. I did totally did miss the post on the stat with these long days we've been doing. It was posted not long ago that a thermostat from a 79 thru 89 Honda Accord would work. Guessing thats a 4 cylinder. Wondering what the temperature degree the factory Kawa thermostat is though. Any suggestions?

Not sure what Ma Kaw calls for, but I would think something in the 180*F range would be fine.

EDIT
Found this old thread by ktullu, using a 160* t-stat trying to lower the running temps on his bike:

Read the whole thread as some of the early info is not correct.

Thanks for the reply, Hoss. Finaly got to get on the home computer and found it on the downloaded manual. Heavy thunderstorms/lightning this evening so I wouldn't turn this puter on. Ma Kaw calls for the 176 to 183 degree thermostat that is fully open to 8mm at 203 degree.
