Variations in engine vn 750.

I am considering purchasing a new (used) engine for my us model vn 750, -87 model.
Is it possible to install a 2006 model engine from a vn 750?

What is the same? What is not the same

Overall - is it doable?

All motors are the same and interchangable.. ..even the early 700's will fit in a 750 frame with no problems...all plug and play.

Thanks, that does it then, off to buy a new engine....btw, were there any significant changes to the engine during the period, as for better generator etc?

Do yourself a favor. If I where you, I'd either put a new stator in or take the one out of the old engine you have and send it to TPE for a rebuild. Would be alot easier now than after it is on the bike.
