shifter is broken

I have a 1997 vn750A, the rod tie and lever comp...have disconnected. Is there a way to connect them back or fix it without splitting the case's open...also i was looking into buying another motor however i dont know what years or size are compatible with my frame.

No !! You must split the CASE..................any VN 750 mototr will do..........cheaper and easier to replace the motor ................sell old one for parts.

No, it`s too big to just bolt in.

On the other hand you can make anything fit if your pockets are deep enough and you modify the frame enough.
If you want a 1500, buy one, don`t try to make one out of a 750.

But any model year vn750 or even the 1985 vn700 engine are all interchangeable, and will bolt right in. Plug and play as it were.
