freeze plug?

I went out to my bike last week after storing it in a friend's shed all winter.... looked it over and everything seemed to be fine... I rode the 6 miles home and discovered I had coolant leaking out and the temp rose fairly high considering the air temp was about 40. I get to my garage and see I am leaking coolant there is a hole in the right side of the engine near the lower frame and exhaust. I understood this to be a freeze plug. the little metal disc was stuck between the frame and engine... My clymer manual is boxed up and I am looking for it.. Moving sucks, can't find anything you want, lol.

Well, freeze plug? Can I just shove it back in and fill up with dexcool and see how she runs?

or is there a pretty good chance of a cracked engine? I had a 50/50 mix of Dexcool, or so I thought. I guess with our -15-20 *F temps this winter it just didn't work right, lol..
