Camshaft identification

I think I'm going nuts, my Clymer manual is contridicting itself. In the disassembly of the front head it says the rear cams have a radial marking and in the disassembly of the rear head it says the front has the radial marking. What is the right answer? I've found several mistakes in this engine from the last shade tree rebuild and really want to do this right this time around.

The Kawasaki (OEM) manual states:

Each rear camshaft has agrove on the sproket end for identification. What that means, is each head has a front and rear camshaft. The OEM manual states do not mix them up and also states do not mix up the camshaft cap between heads (they are machined for to match the head they were installed in).

The groved shafts were in the rear head. That's where they are going back in. Thanks
