Oil Screen torn apart
Well, I changed my oil today. I used the side drain plug, and I reached in to pull out the screen washer, etc and I had some trouble getting the screen to come out. Turns out, the screen was attached to the rubber base by just a bit of screen material. The end of the screen, a metal "cap" or end was still still in the drain. I fished it out and felt around but I think I got everything. I tore the screen off the rubber base, and put the rubber base back in, the wash, spring, etc. So two questions:
First, what in the world tore the screen up like that, and 2, will it be alright to ride the bike without the screen in for a while? I checked the screen and didn't see any metal flakes or shavings, so other than the messed up screen, it all looks good.
