Question fresh air injection..?

I very recently degoated with a kit from scootworks. To reduce decel-popping, rather than plugging the hoses to the reed-valves, i removed the hoses entirely and capped-off both ends where each hose was connected. was this a bad idea? what is the purpose of this "fresh-air injection system" that i just basically disabled?

Re: fresh air injection..?

It just adds fresh air to the exhaust gasses on decel to reduce emissions.
