Does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy the 18mm x 1.5mm bolt needed to remove the flywheel online? Or any big box stores that stock them? I'm looking on replacing my dampers while I have the motor torn apart.
alternative to the flywheel puller tool (the bolt), is a bolt for the upper chain tensioner.. just above the acct (or mcct if converted), on outside of the head. I (and others) have used it with success. its the right size thread,, just a hair short. you can use a small socket inside it (its hollow) to give it that little extra length (it dont need much). pops right off using it.
Be careful and take it slow. I stripped out my first bolt attempting this. It actually bent and mishaped the bolt when it was funneled into the channel within the socket.
The second attempt I placed another smaller socket inside the threads of the bolt. (I don’t remember what size). But it fit loosely enough to pull back out easily. But still hold the integrity of the bolt as it went through.
Reference Spockster's above post about using the cam chain spring bolt and a small socket. That worked great for me.
