Dies at highway speeds

I just got an ‘02 Vulcan 800 and I took it out the first day and it just dies on the road...nothing indicates that it had died other than I got no throttle response. It won’t start back up while coasting. It will crank over really strong but it won’t turn over. Fuel is on. It starts every time I go out and start it but it won’t start after it dies on the road....any suggestions please??? 🙂

Easy test .... When it stalls, open the gas cap. If it starts, the tank vent is plugged.

On the VN750, we call it POOGS. Search that here on the site.

Same thing happened to me shortly after getting my Ď04 750. The tank/carb vent tube was positioned wrong and at highway speeds was taking too much air in. Repositioning the tube fixed that. A few months after that I had to fix my POOGS issue, but thatís another story. Bike runs much better when itís not starved of gas!
