Backyard backrest

This kind of stuff is what I grew up around. The really scrappy stuff, that you throw together to make what you need.

White trash? Nah, we were just poor engineers!

Personally, I love this thing. Bar, stock, tubing, duct tape, drywall screws, plywood, and spray paint.

Too tall for my taste (if I was buying), but you have the mounts, you're on your way.

A good backrest would probably outsell the coasters 20:1.

I think I like it! I'd be concerned about the single bolt mounting point, you'll have a ton of leverage when pushing against the top of the back rest. You may end up accidentally loosening the right shock nut.

I'd you look at the acorn nut dead on, the steel stock has tabs bent around each side of the shock, to prevent movement. Next mockup will have all the tab space on one side (since it will only be pushed one way).

Barely, but picture seven of eight shows one of the bent tabs.

I bought a backrest off of eBay, but that is pretty nice I happen to think. Good job.
