Cant trust people sooo....

Just curious, when you guys park your bikes in public parking lots what do you do with your helmet? I under stand take it inside for like work and stuff but what about places you would have no where to set it down. my friend had his stolen off his bike when he went inside to pay for gas.

Move to Alabama. We still have the right to open carry. Detours a whole lot of grab and runs.

Don't have any helmet locks on mine yet, so I carry it with me if I can't see the bike. If the gas station isn't busy I just wear it in, they know me anyway. I guess some places they shoot you for wearing a helmet in to pay for gas.

We have the right to open carry up here too, fyi.

If you're just running inside to pay for gas...hold it or leave it on your head. If you are going in somewhere like a restaurant or somewhere you will be away for a fair amount of time, then I suggest using a helmet lock (going to have to cut the strap to get it, and that kinda makes a helmet useless) or taking it with you.

I just had a discussion with my wife about theft from vehicles. If someone wants what you have they are going to take it. The problem with bikes is that unless you have hard bags or a trunk it's kinda hard to secure anything. Even then if they want it they will just take it.

for work, I take it in with me, although my coworker (who also rides) usually doesn't. we park in public lot in front of the store.

for short trips (gas, or whatever), I leave it on the mirror. my local gas station was recently robbed by some jerks wearing helmets.. no I cant wear mine in anymore (even tho they know me, but I understand, it has to do with the corporate policies and the security cams).

I rarely leave my helmet on the bike, I'll leave it at the local biker bar, at Barbers race track and museum and that's about it. Just because at those 2 places I know people aren't stupid enough to steal a helmet.

And ya Alabama's carry laws make me feel much better about my chances of getting to shoot one of these thieving bastards.

I leave mine hanging on my handlebars all the time. The only time I bring it in with me is at work or if I am parking the bike outside somewhere and it looks like rain. I've left it on the handlebars multiple years at Bike Week, Biketoberfest, this last weekend at the Boots on the Ground Poker Run, etc.

Maybe my helmet is just too cheap or too ugly for someone to want to steal it. I also leave my TourMaster armored jacket on the bike at rallies and such. No problems yet. Y'all must be parking in some sketchy places.

I just put my helmet on my sissy bar/backrest. I almost never lock it down. Never had a helmet disappear on me even when in the not so nice parts of town, I've never had anyone mess with my ride or stuff.

......I'd rather wake up in the middle of nowhere then in any city on earth.

I leave mine on the bar or hanging from a peg out of the sun. If it's my ****ty brain bucket I don't care too much. I'm pretty sure I can't shoot at someone who grabs my helmet but I can always imagine.
