Blue tooth helmit mod

Well its been a while since I last posted and Lulu is running great!

I recently got one of those new fangled PC phones and It got me tinking about tinkering with my own home made bluetooth solution.

So i just finished bidding and won a new PLANTRONICS PULSAR 590 BLUETOOTH HEADSET!

http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel.../1/4548441.jpg

It does both music and phone and thats what im looking for.

I am thinking about dissassembling the head set and mounting the components in my helmit.

My plan is simple

Take the speakers out and hot glue to the interior areas over the ears. Lengthen the voice tube to get it closer to my mouth (noise reduction will be troublesome any suggestions?) Drill a small pin hole in the side of the helmit to run the buttons on the outside. Leighthen the power cord or convert it to USB to provide recharging.

So once I get the head set i will repost with pics of the mod. Should be interesting.

Motorola S9 bluetooth Headset

MOTOROLA S9
This is what i use when i ride.
it does music and phone too....very light and the batterie ( built in) last for a very long time....
I like it a lot cause it reduces ( close to 90%) of the noise around you...in fact you can hardly hear your engine...you can just feel the vibration.
It's ergonomic and fits in my helmet very well.
i got it on ebay for 59.99 with shipping....instead of 149.99 @ the motorola store......
here some pics....

PEACE!!!

You may want to rethink this. According to the AMA site, California allows a single earphone helmet speaker. Some states allow both, some don't allow any.
Personally, I'd also be a little worried about the integrity of the helmet after drilling a hole in it.

Ok, Lance

NBL (Nothing But Love)

1. I do live in california and dont really think a cop will check my helmit. (probably hassle me over my pipes before that happens)

2. Im not talking about drilling a inch and a half hole, the hole will be no bigger than the wire for the controls.

So any construcitve comments out there?

Well, what do you have that plays music and sends a stereo bluetooth signal?

The other question is more of safety..I also don't give a damn if earphones are "legal" or not, but filling the ear cups of your helmet with something hard does not seem like a good idea. If the speakers were fairly flat it would be better.

I have the Scala Rider headset, and although I can listen to music through it, the sound quality is pretty crappy compared to using stereo earbuds and wired to a stereo line out. Sound quality for the phone is good, but when listening to music I use a set of Eytomic ER6i earphones:
http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.aspx

They are small enough to put on and pull on a full face helmet, they cut outside noise and produce good sound from Ipod's , MP3's players, etc...

Anyway, let us know what you come up with and how well it works...
