Best < $100 action cam? Holy crap!

First, let me just say I've been on here for months as FieroGT42, so before anyone gets any ideas, I'm legit. Not some kind of shill. Anyway...

I like my cheapass chinese car dash cam. But I hate my handlebar cam. 720p that looks like half that at best. And it randomly stops recording, glitches the video, skips. Just trash. Thanks Vivitar/Panasonic.

So i'm looking for a replacement and I decided that maybe it would be cool to record interesting rides or vacations, not just have something to cover my ass for legal/insurance reasons. I looked at the Drift HD, not bad. Monoprice MHD, great for the price. Then I found the "SJ1000" and the Liquid Image Ego. The Ego has some nice features like WiFI, but not a lto of things that I want like charge while recording, auto on/off for car/bike use. And the video quality is th same or maybe blurrier than the no-name CHinese piece of junk. And holy crap, the quality for this price is ridiculous!

I don't know what more to say. The video beats the original GoPro. Beats the snot out of anything else < $100, and most stuff around $200-300. Color screen. Wall charger, USB cable if you don't have one, car charger, car mount, helmet mount, all kinds of others that are probably junk but the camera alone is worth it. The only thing it lacks is durability and replaceable batteries, so I ordered one for $83 just now, shipping included, and sprang for the $10 2-year warranty + accident coverage through SquareTrade. I normally wouldn't get an extra warranty, but drop protection on something that's going on my bike and surely isn't built as tough as a GoPro or Contour... sure.

Video review with links to buy and to the original un-youtube-bastardized-recompressed videos:
..... sigh, no links until 5 posts. I just changed usernames, I swear haha! Posted a reply with the link, waiting for approval before it shows up... In the meantime, check YouTube for Best Action Camera Under $100

Best price is about $83 with economy shipping anywhere in the US. I think I browsed until I found one with expedited shipping for 2 bucks more. Hope this helps some people who would spend more and get less.

Sounds cool. I'm using my iPhone currently. Videos ok at best.
Maybe the wife will like me enough at Christmas to splurge on a gopro.
You've peeked my interest though. Good video for $100!?
Sounds worthy.

Hexadecimus, can you post a few videos here so we can see the quality. You have several of us interested based on the <$100 price tag.

there are videos posted on the Ego website
HERE

that is not under 100 bucks, so maybe I am not following your post properly.

What camera are you referring to? Can you post a link to the website for me?

I too was confused until I realized the OP was talking about two different cameras. One is the Ego Liquid Image (more expensive). The other is an SJ1000 Sports HD DV. The SJ1000 is priced around $85.00 from multiple Ebay sellers. If you search Ebay with "SJ1000 camera" you should turn up most of the listings.
