Torn Seat

So this morning I noticed a small tear on the backrest of my seat about the diameter of a pencil. No idea how it happened. Are there any recommended patches?

On my old seat, I've used Black Duct Tape (3M brand).

My seat is still perfect. I had considered buying another stock seat a long time ago, to use as a replacement in case anything ever happened to the original. The stock seat is one of my favorite parts of the bike. But it looks like my seat will outlast the bike. Upholstery shops can also do minor vinyl repairs, but I figured if I had to have the whole seat redone, it would not be as comfortable as it was.

I am a motorcyclist, NOT a biker.
