Recommended pants/jacket/gloves

I'm a newbie here. All my riding before the '750 was on smaller stuff and only around town and a full face helmet seemed good enough for staying under 20-30MPH. Looking at getting some pants/jacket and maybe gloves to protect my newbie skin in case I lay it down somewhere on the roads between towns where the speeds a higher. Looking at some of the newer fabrics with insert pads/armor and also thinking about some gloves. Would like some advice on what to look for and avoid.

Ideal stuff would be good year around but I probably will put the bike away when it gets cold and/or wet out. Cooler is probably more important than warmer. Prefer simple color scheme. Will probably want to wear the pants over my office wear.

Well if you search back through all the pages in this section you'll find many threads on various types of gear.

First most of course is a good helmet. Make sure whichever one you choose fits properly. This is the single most overlooked aspect.

As for other gear, I'll tell you right now your best bet is not to look for "four season" gear. Mesh pants and jacket for summer, and waterproof and lined jacket and pants for cool to cold temps.

The best mesh gear is the Kevlar stuff from Cycleport.(google it)

As for the cooler weather you can go in several directions here. A one piece suit like an Aerostitch Roadcrafter be a real good choice if you need to wear work clothes underneath. They make two piece suits too.. as do a few other makers.

Names like Olympia, Fieldsheer,Firstgear,Tourmaster, and Courtech all make decent gear. If you have a local dealer that carries some of those brands I'd say go try some on and don't be afraid to ask the sales staff for help in choosing.

I tried searching the threads for the word 'gloves' with minimal results. I took the bike today 34F outside. 65 mph = windchill @ 16F or so. Finger tips were numb when I got to work. Any suggestions on winter gloves for these temps?

Leather gloves with thinsulate lining. Some of them have armor on them but I haven't tried them.

Try doing a search for "winter gear" or "cold weather gear"....

Here's a fairly recent one:

For gloves I have not found anything non heated that is warmer than the Tourmaster Polar-tek glove. (Not sure if that's spelled right)

Edit. Well close. Polar tex...:
