Stock Sofa to Custom Lazy Boy Queen Recliner

It is another Stock Seat Modification write up. But this time instead of just reshaping the foam to get a lower seat height for the King as well as scooting him back a few inches, I am giving the Queen some needed comfort by reclining her as well as an added few inches of butt room.

I started with a stock VN750 Seat and the KF&S Extended Backrest.

I then carved the stock foam into the basic shape so I can chop up the original seat pan.

Next I mapped out the Driver cushion onto the seat pan with 1/16 masking tape.

Trimmed Tape to just the outlines of the part I am going to cut out.

I am not going with any Gel-Padding on this.. My customer doesn't want it, I am however using memory foam for the top layer.

on another note... This little project aint for the week of heart, and is by no means a beginner task. The use of Fiberglass Resins, knowledge of making forms, and the ability to fabricate metal are required for my seat pan mod. Also you will need to know how to make a seat cover or pay for an upholsterer to cover the seat when it is done.

THE STOCK SEAT COVER WILL NOT FIT on this seat.

your seat is looking like a piece of plastic...I am having issues keeping the glass bonded to the plastic... looks like I might have to use the OEM seat as a mold... I am going to try a couple things at work tomarrow to get the glass to bond

ok so after talking with a friend of mine, I came up with a solution.. and after much thinking on it last night and today, I am going to scrap the idea of using fiberglass... I am going to hammer out the seat pan from some metal.. all in all I think New_Rider, you will be happier with the end results.
