Fall Jacket

Just want to let you know about a jacket that I found.

It is called the Blacktop Jacket and made by Duluth Trading Company. A lot of the stuff they have is made from fire-hose material. Well, this jacket has an outer shell of the same material. And a good lining.

This morning was the first morning it was cold enough to wear it. When I left, it was 55 degrees F, and I was getting a bit warm just standing there. But when I got going it was perfect. Never felt the wind, other than the place where my glove snuck out of the sleeve. Lots of pockets, zipper on the sleeve to tighten the cuff, and very comfortable.

If you do order it, make sure you get a size smaller or so. I am 5'9", 180 pounds, and I got a medium. Sleeves are perfect for the form on a bike. No binding at all.

Oh yeah, I do not work for them, just passing this along.

No armor. Is it waterproof too?

I picked up a Fieldsheer Aviator awhile back. Really nice jacket with a full lining you can zip out and wear on it's own. Waterproof, armored, and has cinch straps on two parts of the sleeves so it won't flap in the wind.

However I wore my Joe Rocket Superbike Corona Racing Teem jacket this morning to work with a sweater underneath....48 temps...was fine.

I guess if I'm going to spend money for a riding jacket, I prefer one made for riding.

You're right, no armor, but the firehose material is very strong. It will stand up to a good slide on gravel and rocks without tearing. I slid down a hill while checking out a trail while wearing a pair of the pants with no scratches. Yeah, I know it is not blacktop.

It is supposed to be waterproof, but I haven't personally checked it out. Nor do I 'plan' to.

Yeah, I wonder how it compares to 500 Cordura. Is it a specific weave they use? I was assuming it's nylon thread....but it's cotton.
