Homemade stereo speaker

Been toying with putting tunes on the bike. Nothing really loud just something to listen to on the longer rides but that didn't sound like an AM radio, so I made this little drum speaker that will fit between the gauges and took the shell off if a 50 watt amp and stuffed the guts behind the left side cover with a power switch under the tank. Sounds pretty decent. Not tinny and loud enough to hear it on the highway. I thought I'd share it since so many members have posted their mods fabrications etc. and I can take pics of the amp installation if anyone is interested. There are small amps on eBay that will fit but I had this one kicking around so I used it. Peace,
Dave.

Thats great looking, If you ever get a hold of a set of Harley highway light buckets that is what Rumbel road useds, then they cut a 3 1/2 speaker to fit in and there you go.

Thanks. I added foam cushion to the sides so there's a little protection to the cones.
HD light buckets huh? Very cool idea. I thought this system on ebay was a bit overkill for a vulcan 750... or for my taste any ...50 ha ha

Coolness! I've thought about doing something like that, but I don't really take long trips, plus I doubt I should push my bike's charging system... I got plenty of other stuff falling apart as it is lol.

yeah you've had some troubles lately I know. Hope they're behind ya. What I did so far was to change the tail light and plate light to led to offset the draw. Its not a hefty amp so I don't. Think it'll do any harm. When I turn it on without the bike running there's no drop in intensity with the lights.

Man some of those tank stereos are outrageous! Just what I need is two mammoth 6 inch cones inches from my skull with 500 Watts to split that skull.... What? Huh?...WHAT?? Hahaha. Have a good one.

I hope they're behind me too! lol Thanks for the good wishes! I'm waiting for my replacement thermostat housing to get here so I can finally go out and ride!!

Maybe someday, after I fix everything on my bike and I'm finally able to take long trips on it, I'll put on some audio system.

Are you gonna be using a stereo or an mp3 player?

Mp3. I also have a little FM radio but I don't know how it'll deal with station drift. Car radios have better circuitry for moving around. I use my Droid with internet radio also but the phone's a battery hog. You're welcome for the wishes. I'm anticipating an "in the wind " post from you soon hopefully :-) .
