Seat Shaving

I'd like to make a solo seat out of the stock 2-upper on my 88 vn750. I'm thinking I will have to have it shaved and reupholstered, but I'm not sure how this process works. Do you take it to an upholsterer, seat maker, or do you do it yourself? Also, can you add pads on top of the cushion that's already in the seat? I'd like to remove some and put it in a different place if that's possible.

Thanks

Check my step by step pictures of my solo seat mod at the gallery (under kawabengie). I shaved the foam did some cut and reattach, added some memory foam in the "right place", then sent it to a professional upholster.

Good luck,
