4th of july flag mount

This was an easy one: I just drilled a 5/8" hole in my turn signal brackets, then drilled and tapped a 1/4-20 screw hole normal to it. The 1/4" bolt holds the flag pole in place. I was thinking of maybe replacing the wooden pole with something stronger.....and maybe adding a wire to the flag so it doesn't wrap around the pole.
What have you all done as far as mounting a flag?
