Smile Whats the best fitting tank bag ?

I have been looking around to buy a tank bag for my bike. I look at the pictures and i am not sure how it will seat( as in tight fit) on my tank.

There are a couple of nice ones at www.motorcyle-superstore.com.

Anyone has a tank bag installed and any suggestions ?

I just want the tank bag to carry misc items like drinks or portable gps etc. Not into the whole saddle bag thing.

Thanks.

NewEnough.com has some (and fairly inexpensive) good ones too.

I was looking on ebay and saw the Joe Rocket Hammerhead Here is one of the listings. Next time I stop at the dealer, I'm gonna check how it fits.

That looks cool. Looks like a magnet. Wonder how strong the magnet is, say if got lots of stuff on the bag and you make a sharp turn, will the bag hold on to the tank ?

I just got one of these yesterday. it fits GREAT! I will be going on a run today so, I will let you know how well it works. as for the magnets, they are strong as hell! I don't think that it will be moving at all when riding!

I will post pic's later.

I have / use the large Eclipse tank bag. Doesn't fit that well due to the slope of the tank and the location of the gas cap.

I agree with both Krravi and Dirttrack650, the magnets will hold quite well and it is a pain to refuel when you have to take the tank bag off every time you stop for gas. I got a Cargo brand tank bag and made a few trips with it as a tank bag. Seen here with my tent and spleeping bag on the sissy bar. This setup was ok. in sharp corners, the bars would come close to the bag. this bag will extend upward to hold more stuff, but this will come close to your body because of the slope of the tank.

Using it as normal allowed carrying the extra stuff. However I am planning a new trip and will not be carrying the tent and sleeping bag, so I have remounted the tank bag as a tail bag. I simply turned it handle side down, used the neck strap to go under the luggage rack, and used the normal strap connections to wrap the straps around the sissy bar. It is very stable. All the pockets and zippers are oriented correctly. now i can use the full volume of the bag without any worry of bar or body contact. Plus, i can get some reflective tape, mount it on a piece of cardboard and put it in the map pouch that is now facing to the rear, and it is an instant upgrade for night visibility.

Cortec Mini Tank Bag

I've used the Cortec Mini Tank Bag for years. I've never used a restraining strap - the magnets have always held it on, even when it's carrying a heavy load. (Of course, it probably helps that I block a lot of wind with my PF3 fairing.)

yesterday we went on "Doc's Deepwood Run", nice ride (as always). I had the bag fully packed, 2, 32oz. bottles of water, a hand full of snacks, a pair of winter gloves, and a winter hat! that bag was packed and never moved! stuck like glue! it also fit really well. it didn't get in the ways of the bars when turning, but it does sit on top of the gas fill lid, so it does need to be removed to put gas in. not really a big deal, I just flip it back and lay it on the seat.

will post some pic's as soon as I take some pic's.
