Vests?

Anyone wear vest when they ride instead of a jacket? Just curious...

What brand do you wear if you do? How do you like it?

Only if it were one of these:

Do you mean one of those biker leather vests or what? Any regular vest will be useless as far as insulation because with your arms out to hold the bars all the air would just blow through the arm holes.

Now if you mean one of those High Visibility vests, those should be worn over a jacket.

So whatca talking about here?

Im talking more of just a leather/denim biker vest. The ones for looks/holding your gun and cigs.

I wear a vest and I know I should wear a jacket for protection but when the weather is hot I put myself in danger. That said, riding with a vest is fine and I have 3 chains in the front so it allows more air in and it feels good. I took all the stick pins that I collected over the years and I decorated the front of my vest and I like it. I bought the vest from JC Whitney for about $45 plus shipping. Then I went to the NYC motorcycle show a few months later and saw much nicer vests there for $25 no shipping but that's how it goes.

I used to wear a US Army branded mesh vest by Power Trip. It was comfy, but I eventually realized that it probably wasn't the wisest thing to wear on the streets where I ride, so I sold it.

Looked at the air bag vest and I've got to admit, I LM-O! Couldn't imagine ever riding around with an air bladder around my chest. I'd feel like the Micheline Man!

That being said, there certainly could be a place for this type of protective gear in the future, if they could engineer something that looked more like a down vest or jacket, but is made with a strong enough outer material that could withstand scraping the pavement at 65 mph.
