staying dry

While riding in a downpour the other day,I decided to wear my regular textile riding jacket, because it has a lot more reflective material on it than my rain coat and was advertized as waterproof ,it was for maybe ten miles,My question is has any one ever used Camp Dry silicon spray that is used to spray on tents and backpacks on a textile jacket,I know it is a good product,as I have used it on canvas boots and nylon tents and various other products that I use when hunting fishing and camping with good success, and to be fair I had the liner out of the jacket and no, it wasn't my mesh one either,All Opinions appreciated ,and I wonder will it affect Carbolex whatever that is, fancy name for thick nylon I think.

If you see it on my bike I did it

I know that with both of my jackets, the 'water resistant' protection is actually the liner. The textile jacket is somewhat water repellent, but the short and nasty is the rain protection is the liner.
