Shinko 270 Super Classic Tire fitment

I'm having a bit of an issue getting the bead on my front tire to hold air for more than 3 days, and they're ancient dunlops, so its time for some new boots. Ive had my eye on these, for the look and the swapability. I'm having trouble converting these measurements though, so some second opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Will this work?

Shinko 270 Super Classic Tires
Front/Rear @ 5.00-16 69S TT #87-4620

Im just not sure if its too wide for the rims, or if they make other sizes. i'd like to use front/back sets at least if at all possible.

Or should i just try and stick a tube in the one i have, and see how long the sidewalls hold up? they dont look bad or anything, they still have tread, i just hear about them getting stiff after a while.

Well, I know that size won't fit because the "16" indicates a 16" wheel. The front wheel on a 750 Vulcan is 19" . I went with a Shenko 230 Tour Master tire, 110/90 x19. Stock size is 100/90x19 so the 110/90x19 tire is a bit taller which brings your speedometer more in-line with reality. If I'm not badly mistaken, and I very well may be in this, the size that you quoted is generally used in smaller machines. I also have an '05 Yamaha 250 Virago (Yamaha has dropped the Virago name and it's now called a V-Star 250) and it uses tires that are described in a similar manner. So far I like my Shenko's. They seem to hold the road like glue.

do not stick a tube in your old tire unless you want to find out what it feels like to have a tire come apart at 60mph. it is not an experience I would recommend.

I just looked at my 250 Virago front tire. Its a 3.00-18 47P. This is meaningless to me really. I still have issues with metric tire sizes on cars. But... if you tell me you're running an E, F, L, or M series tire I'll know what ya got.
