I saw some of this American Sealant's AmerSeal Tire Sealant at NAPA...16oz. for $9.99 and thought about trying it. A lot easier to get hands on than Ride-On. After looking it up online I went ahead bought some to try...sounds like pretty good stuff on their homepage:

Q1 What problem does AmerSeal prevent?

Answer AmerSeal completely seals the entire bead, and rim area of the tire to prevent air loss from all parts of the tire and rim. It also coats the sidewalls on the inside of the tire to eliminate air loss from porosity leaks, and weather cracking.

Q2 Is AmerSeal cost effective?

Answer Time studies have shown that if only 24%-30% of flat tires are eliminated, AmerSeal has paid for itself. AmerSeal will eliminate over 99% of flat tire problems in tubeless tires, and around 85% in tube type tires. AmerSeal can be installed in any tire for less than it would cost to repair that tire one time. AmerSeal continues to work and be effective for the life of the tire.

Q3 Does AmerSeal pay for itself?

Answer Absolutely, in these 5 ways!

1. No equipment downtime due to flat tires.

2. Fewer loss of machine and man hours due to flat tires. Flat tires can be extremely costly resulting in downtime for equipment and perosnnel.

3. Eliminates costs from flat tire repairs and roadside service calls. Flat repair costs can range from $7.50 to several hundred dollars depending on the vehicle the tire is on and subsequent service call costs.

4. Independent test show that an AmerSeal treated tire lasts an average of 20% to 30% longer. For these two reasons.
a. Tires stay properly inflated, underinflation is the number one killer of tread wear, and tire failure.
b. Tires run cooler 35 to 37 degrees fahrenheit. The reduction of friction coupled with the dissipation of heat from the tire makes tread areas last longer. Heat is dissipated by being able to transfer from the tread area of the tire to the coated sidewall of the tire where the tire is much cooler. Heat will always travel from a hot surface to a cooler surface. The sidewall coated with AmerSeal is much cooler than the tread area.

5. As much as 10% better fuel mileage, properly inflated tires produce much less drag on equipment, therefore, equipment uses less fuel.

Q4 Aren't all tire sealants basically the same?

Answer NO! Some tire sealants have few ingredients in them. AmerSeal is a heat treated formula that is made up of 23 different ingredients. AmerSeal is heat treated to get a cross linking of the molecules of all the ingredients, making a 100% totally homogenous formula that never has to be shaken or stirred, or mixed and will never break down in the bottle or the tire.

Q5 Can AmerSeal be used in any airfilled tire?

Answer Yes. High speed, low speed, tubeless, or tube type tires. If you put air into a tire, AmerSeal can be used effectively. Since AmerSeal is totally water soluble it is not effective with liquid ballasts such as calcium chloride. Also, AmerSeal cannot be used with balancing powder. However, trucking companies have told us that AmerSeal treatment in heavy duty truck tires eliminates the need for a balancing powder.

Q6 How large a puncture will AmerSeal seal?

Answer AmerSeal will seal punctures of 1/4" inch in any airfilled tire. Larger punctures in the tread area will generally seal in higher ply industrial type tires. In independent tests AmerSeal has sealed 86 - 1/2" inch punctures in a 14 ply truck tire, and the tire was still in use.

Q7 Will AmerSeal seal bead or rim leaks?

Answer Yes. It may take a few days for AmerSeal to seek out all the areas. The rim may be leaking from so much air pressure you may need to add air a few more times until the leak is permanently sealed. The more the tire is rotated the less time it will take for a bead leak to seal.

Q8 Is AmerSeal effective in extreme temperatures?

Answer Yes. AmerSeal stays effective from -45% to 200% fahrenheit.

Q9 How often do you have a treat a tire with AmerSeal?

Answer Once. In some extreme conditions like industrial mowers that are getting several thousand punctures in thorn rows and ditches, additional AmerSeal may at some point be required. However, AmerSeal is, practically 100% of the time, a one time application.

Q10 How do you remove AmerSeal from the tire when the tire needs recapped or section patched?

Answer With water. AmerSeal is 100% water soluble and can be rinsed out of the inside of the tire with a garden hose. For quick removal use a wet dry vac after introducing the water into the inside of the tire. If the puncture is too large and requires a regular patch, simply blow the Amerseal away from the puncture area with a high pressure air hose, wipe area with a wet rag, let dry and patch normally.

Q11 What is the shelf life of AmerSeal?

Answer Indefinite! We have tested AmerSeal that has been in closed containers for more than 8 years and the chemical make up of AmerSeal is identical to when it was bottled.

Q12 Is AmerSeal flammable or explosive?

Answer NO. AmerSeal has no flash point.

Q13 Will AmerSeal rust or corrode a wheel or rim?

Answer NO. Amerseal has 4 rust inhibitors in it and 1 vapor lock inhibitor. It is chemically inert and will not have any effect on the rubber or wheel. AmerSeal stays pH neutral for the life of the tire.

Q14 Can excess water inside a tire dilute the sealant and make it ineffective?

Answer Yes. Water vapor can be injected into a tire from unfiltered air compressors, or through major leaks in the bead area of a tire that is already flat.AmerSeal does have a water dispersing agent in its formulation. However, if excess water is in the tire it will dilute the sealant and make it ineffective. The best way to insure water is not being injected into tires, is to empty (bleed) the air line of the compressor by blowing air through the line before attaching it to the valve stem of the tire. If white liquid is noticed leaking from a puncture after the tire has been rotated several times, and air is continuing to leak out of the tire, more than likely the tire has had water or some other type of sealant or ballast in it previous to the AmerSeal treatment. If this happens, you must remove the tire from the rim, rinse it out with water, remount it, and retreat with AmerSeal.

Q15 Does AmerSeal migrate to the bottom of the tire when the vehicle is stopped?

Answer No. AmerSeal permanently coats all internal surfaces of the tire and wheel and stays in place for permanent protection.

Q16 Will AmerSeal treatment save on truck tire repair?

Answer Yes. Amerseal will usually save in tire repair and down time, many times over what you would pay in any given tire repair.

Q17 How do you dispose of AmerSeal when it is rinsed out of the tire? Is it a hazardous material, or hazardous waste product?

Answer According to the EPA's Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure analysis AmerSeal is not even remotely close to being considered a hazardous material or a hazardous waste product. As such AmerSeal can be rinsed down any sanitary sewer, with the permission of the sewer owner.
Thought someone else might know more about it or want to check it out since it can be had from any NAPA dealer. Sits right there next to the Slime (The 2 year life span stuff)
