All the parts pics I see show this "sliding bracket" (don't know what it's called), as separate part of the caliper body, but this part, and the body do not have their own part numbers. The only way to fix it thru a "store" is to buy the caliper assembly. (for about $330, and that ain't gonna happen).
Anyway, my point here is, that my right caliper must be off some other Kawi bike, maybe a different size Vulcan with slightly larger rotors?
It doesn't really matter at this point what I have here, because it's wrong for my bike. It's kind of strange though...both my calipers themselves, aside from this one part, look identical; size, color, the Kawasaki sticker on the side, even the mounting bolts-from both sides- thru the forks are the same size as well. It's just enough of a difference in this one particular part to render the whole brake useless on this bike.
Same parts used on different bikes, with only minor changes...that's not unusual.....just thinking outloud is all....
Kind of funny to think if the guy on the assembly line wasn't really paying attention, and grab the wrong one out of the other basket and didn't know it because it all looks and mounts up the same.
Although it's probably more realistic to go with some backyard hack looking at it and saying "sure it'll fit, look, they both the same!"
