sticking m/c piston

Hi all....my front brake lever has some slop because the piston on the master cyl is not popping out far enough...I have brake action, but the piston seems to hang up when it retracts....By not coming out far enough causes lever to not touch front brake micro switch...The brake light will stay on...How hard is it to remove piston, clean it up and expect it to perform right.. Bike is '86 Vulcan 750.....Thanks in advance, you guys always come through...

Are you talking about the brake cyl end, or the part on the MC itself ?...I believe you can get a rebuild kit for the MC.
