Decisions.....180/70-15.....or not?

I have read the threads on here about certain 180/70-15 tires ACTUALLY fitting on the back of our bike....without the use of a SAWZALL! I would love to try this....but would hate to buy a brand new tire...just to have it not fit....then have to sell it on Craigslist for half price....you know? So anyone that has done this mod successfully please let me know what Brand and model tire you used. Thank You. My bike is an '86....which shouldn't matter. I really want to go with a Pirelli Night Dragon ...or a Shinko Tourmaster 230....

Wiley, back to the OP's question, did you have any trouble getting your 180 to fit? Anything special one would need to know to install it? Thanks.

Prior to this thread, I recall only one member who has written about mounting a 180mm tire on the vn750. I don`t remember if that was Wileysden as per his post above, or someone else. IIRC, it was someone who got a good deal on the tire and decided to try it.

I can tell you the ME880 170 is tight with the tire flat. Might have to remove the final drive to get a bigger tire on. If you haven't done it recently, it would be good to lube the splines while the wheel is off anyways.
