Front wheel not aligned with handlebars

I bought my bike after it was layed down. Im not sure how hard it hit but it must have had some force when it did, it bent the brake lever and the right foot peg mount amoung other things. Now the front wheel isnt lined up with the handlebars, when the bars are straigt forward the wheel is slightly to the left. Upon further inspection i realized that the top of the right fork is even with the top of the upper triple tree, but the top of the left fork is slightly higher than the tree. Which one is correct? should the top of the fork be even with the tree? also, what would be the best way of re-aligning the wheel to the bars and the trees? Any help would be much appreciated.

The triple tree should be just under the cap for the fork. If you look for O Hoss Canada's threads you will find in his signiture a download for a manuel for this bike. Then after download you can look up how to align the forks with the manuel.http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/index.html Go to this sight to find out how to allign forks if you can not find anything with the downloaded manuel. You wiil have to search the info on the left side of sight to find how to align forks.

So just an update, I read up on aligning the front end. It said to loosen everything up, line the tire up, and tighten everything back up, starting at the front axle nut and ending at the upper triple tree middle bolt. I did that, and as soon as i let go of the tire and tree after everything was tightened back up it went back to the way it was before. So i left it there overnight and came back to it the next day. I pulled EVERYTHING apart, including the upper and lower triple trees, cleaned and repacked the front bearings, and cleaned everything else. I checked the forks for straightness, everything seemed to be good. I put it all back together, tightened everything down from bottom to top, and now it lines up perfectly!! not sure what i did, but im happy with it, and now i know that the front bearings are good and have good greasae in them.
