Should I lube a speedo cable?

Aloha , I just bought a used speedometer cable off ebay. I wondered if there was any hot tip for lubing the cable prior to installation. Or leave it alone.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi: All I've ever done with these is wipe the inner cable clean with solvent on a rag and coat the inner cable lightly with lithium grease, the reinsert into the sleeve and you are ready to go. I don't think you can do any harm by doing so, and it gives peace of mind more than leaving it alone, an unknown condition.
Just my 2 Cents.
